Tom Payerle earned a doctorate in experimental nuclear physics from the University of Maryland in 1996, and has provided IT support for the campus ever since, starting with Unix and general IT support in the Physics Department. For the past ten years, he has been with Maryland’s Division of Information Technology on the team providing systems administration and general Unix support for the many Solaris and Linux systems on campus. Tom also got involved with High Performance Computing, and assisted with operations, support and design of the University’s Deepthought HPC clusters.
